State Department Spokesman Denies Any Genocide and Smears UN Rapporteur

March 28, 2024 (EIRNS)—The State Department briefing yesterday was dominated by questions about the U.S.’s unconscionable enabling of Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza. Faced with a question about the searing report titled “Anatomy of a Genocide” released March 25 by the Special Rapporteur for the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Francesca Albanese, spokesman Matthew Miller flatly denied that any genocide is occurring.

To avoid discussing the evidence presented by Albanese in support of her charge of that there is genocide, Miller, a man seemingly devoid of conscience or compunction, labeled her an “anti-Semite” and a supporter of terrorism (no evidence given), and attacked the idea that any Special Rapporteur for the Occupied Palestinian Territories was needed at all:

QUESTION: So let me ask you did you see or read the report made by Francesca Albanese yesterday in Geneva, where she showed…, as far as she is concerned, irrefutable evidence that Israel engaged in genocide? Did you see the report? What is your comment on that?

MILLER: I did see the report. Let me say a couple things about it. First, we have for a longstanding period of time opposed the mandate of this special rapporteur, which we believe is not productive. And when it comes to the individual who holds that position, I can’t help but note a history of anti-semitic comments that she has made that have been reported. And—

QUESTION: She has made anti-Semitic comments?
