In a town hall event that aired on Thursday night, President Trump made remarks and responded to audience questions. In his initial discussion, he spoke of contracts for a local shipyard, the difference between voting to remove a statue and a group of protesters destroying them on their own, and the latest revelations around the case of Michael Flynn. On the question of violence and security in the big cities, Trump said that Chicago — which has seen a huge surge in shootings — was worse than Afghanistan, and that if Seattle doesn’t take care of the Capital Hill Autonomous Zone, the federal government will.
He touted his criminal justice reform bill and repeated his earlier remarks that successes in increasing the level of testing led to the increase in detected cases, and lauded the declining case mortality rate. (Increased detection of mild or asymptomatic cases is indeed part of the cause for the increase in positive tests, but this is not the only reason.)
On Michael Flynn, Paul Manafort, and Roger Stone, he called out the scam of the investigations. The “Mueller Scam” could have ended in a week, since it was immediately apparent that it had no basis.
Asked about his greatest accomplishment, he pointed to the expectation of having over 300 confirmed judges. The Space Force, rebuilding the military, improving the Veterans Administration hospital system, and the elimination of regulations also merited mention.
