DOJ Begins Releasing Documents on Obama’s “Fast and Furious” Gun-Running to Mexico

Here’s another useful spin-off of the July 8 López Obrador-Trump meeting: the still-scandalous Obama-Eric Holder gun-running operation to drug cartels in Mexico is back in the spotlight.

The U.S. Department of Justice has provided Mexico with extensive files on the operation code-named “Fast and Furious,” Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard reported in President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s first morning press conference after returning from Washington. The Attorney General’s Office in Mexico is now going through the files. Some of the material had already been made public, some not, and if more material is needed, the DOJ has said it will provide everything necessary to answer Mexico’s questions, Ebrard said.
