FAO New 'E-Locusts' App Helps Spotters in Africa To Provide Targets for Anti-Locust Action

The UN Food and Agriculture Organization has developed an app for on-the-ground spotters to capture data on locust infestations, to provide both a centralized overview, and targets for various kinds of intervention to destroy the insects. It is in use now in East Africa. Technical teams, analyzing the data, can then decide the best means for attack—spraying pesticides on the ground, or by plane.
