Ghislaine Maxwell was finally arrested July 2 at a highly secluded Bradford, N.H. estate. Since Jeffrey Epstein’s indictments were unsealed in July 2019, Maxwell has been in hiding. She was indicted on six counts, involving perjury and the procuring of minors for sex.
Prosecutors described the year-long manhunt for her. The 156-acre property was purchased for a bit over $1 million cash via an anonymous limited liability corporation last December. Prosecutors also estimated that she received over $20 million from Epstein between 2007 and 2011. The massive amounts of cash involved with Epstein and Maxwell usually suggests illegal drug activity and/or gambling activity – however, the particular circumstances of their activities, including extensive videotaping operations, suggests sexual blackmail to be at the core. The existence and provenance of the videotapes has been a subject of speculation. Prince Andrew now has to deal with the likelihood that Maxwell will provide evidence against him. It was she who introduced Prince Andrew to Epstein.
The question of the day is, how did Maxwell avoid arrest for more than 11 months of Geoffrey Berman’s supervision as U.S. Attorney for New York’s Southern District, while his successor, Audrey Strauss carried out the arrest within her first two weeks?
