Worldwide New Coronavirus Cases Hit a New One-Day High on July 4.

According to the World Health Organization, there were 212,326 new COVID-19 cases worldwide — a record. The largest numbers are still in the U.S., Brazil, Russia and India. Reuters reported that “India recorded its highest single-day spike of coronavirus cases on Saturday [July 4], with over 22,000 new cases and 442 deaths, as infections rose in the western and southern parts of the country amid heavy monsoon rains.” Total cases in India now exceed 640,000.
