Chinese Ambassador to the U.K. Liu Xiaoming, in an extremely hostile interview with BBC’s Andrew Marr, was asked about the U.K. decision to prevent Huawei’s participation in the U.K. 5G network. Amb. Liu responded: “You know, in 1793, the Chinese Emperor Qianlong told the British King: `We do not have the slightest need for your country’s manufacturing.’ That marked the start of a 150-year decline of China. So 227 years later, the U.K. has said to China, `We do not have the slightest need for your 5G technology.’ So, I have no idea what will happen for the next 150 years.”
