Global Times editor-in-chief Hu Xijin in his Aug. 13 video broadcast “Hu Says,” explained the recent PLA maneuvers in the Strait of Taiwan are highly unusual under two aspects: first, the PLA had maneuvers both in the Strait and at its upper and lower ends, showing that the PLA is able to launch a full assault and occupy the island in a matter of hours, without the United States having time to react.
