Aug.12 (EIRNS) — The date of the summit of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (P5) is yet to be set, but preparations for the event are still under way, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, in an interview with the Argumenty i Fakty newspaper published on Aug. 12.
“We are currently working on aspects of the forthcoming event. There is no exact date so far,” Lavrov said.
“The summit —with a solid foundation of the UN Charter — will allow launching a serious and direct conversation of the leaders on principles of interaction in global affairs and ways to solve humanity’s most pressing problems, and move closer to agreeing on common rules of conduct, including with an aim to preserve global peace and prevent a large-scale military confrontation,” he said.
