Shoigu Visits Mobile ICBM Regiment

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu paid a visit to the strategic missile regiment in Teykovo, Russia yesterday. The Teykovo regiment is equipped with 18 Topol-M and Yars mobile ICBMs. Shoigu “inspected the organization of the march of the missile battalion and its deployment in the field position, examined the autonomous launcher of the Yars missile system, assessed the actions of the crew of the Yars launcher,” the Defense Ministry reported. Shoigu also discussed with Gen. Sergei Karakayev, the commander of the Strategic Missile Forces, and the commander of the Teykovo regiment, the modernization of the missile units. While summing up the results of the working trip, Shoigu observed that “the re-equipment of the Strategic Missile Forces with modern strategic complexes is ahead of schedule.”
