The U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control announced on July 31 that a Chinese entity and two Chinese individuals were being sanctioned under the imperial Global Magnitsky Act over alleged human rights violations in Xinjiang. The Xinjiang Production and Construction Corp. was sanctioned for its “connection to serious human rights abuse” in Xinjiang, while Sun Jinlong, the company’s former party secretary, and the entity’s deputy party secretary Peng Jiarui were also sanctioned.
Secretary of State Mike Pomeo, of course, had to chime in. Perhaps we should all be pleased that this lunatic, while waiting for the “end days” of a civilization-ending war against the Muslims in the Mideast, when the “true believers” will be raptured, has decided to show such deep concern for Muslims. “The Chinese Communist Party’s human rights abuses in Xinjiang, China against Uygurs and other Muslim minorities,” Pompeo intoned, “rank as the stain of the century. The Trump Administration has led the world’s effort to impose tangible costs on the PRC’s continuous campaign of repression, mass arbitrary detention, intrusive surveillance, forced labour, forced population control, involuntary collection of biometric data, and genetic analyses targeted at these groups.”
