Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying blasted Adm. Philip Davidson, commander of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, yesterday, for the remarks he made at Pearl Harbor the day before, in which he claimed that the Chinese Communist Party is trying to make “Chinese national power is more important than international law.”
“The world has seen so clearly that it is the U.S. that seeks to change the world to one in which its national power is above the international law,” Hua said during the ministry’s regular briefing yesterday. “What the U.S. has done is hypocrisy, hegemony and double standards at full display.” She pointed out that the U.S. accuses China of violating the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea but the U.S. isn’t even party to the treaty, that it is the U.S. which is sanctioning the International Criminal Court, and that it is the U.S. that “wantonly walked away from international treaties and organizations.”
