European Parliament Passes Resolutions on Belarus and Navalny ‘Poisoning’

Sept.17 (EIRNS) — The European Parliament has again proven to be a rubber stamp for any piece of trash put before them. This time they overwhelmingly passed resolutions denouncing the Belarus government and calling for sanctions, but also (naturally) holding Russia responsible for the alleged poisoning of Alexey Navalny and insisting on sanctions against Russia.

On Belarus the vote was 574-37 with 82 abstentions, according to an EP press release. The resolution said the EU Parliament does not recognize the Aug. 9 election results and will not recognize Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko once his current term of office expires on Nov. 5. They instead recognize Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya—who won 10% of the vote, and then fled to Lithuania—as having won the election, which they claimed was held in a fraudulent manner.
