The Foreign Ministers of Germany and China, Heiko Maas and Wang Yi, agreed in their meeting in Berlin on Sept. 1 that everything should be done to revitalize production and employment globally, to assist countries facing difficulties because of the pandemic, to make sure a future vaccine is made a global public good and cooperate internationally against the pandemic, among other steps.
Furthermore, the two ministers told the press after their meeting, “both countries should cooperate to practice multilateralism and resist the conduct of a ‘new cold war.’ Both countries are against the drive towards confrontation and will strengthen cooperation between multilateral institutions,as well as support the United Nations, the WHO and multilateralism.”
