The 15.4 km Mount Ceneri tunnel will be officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sept. 4. Full service will be available beginning in April 2021.
The inauguration of the Ceneri is the final step in an engineering adventure that started 30 years ago and is intended to make freight transport much easier and to make the roads significantly safer by replacing trucks with trains.
