The urgency to convene a Summit of the Permanent Members of the UN Security Council is increasingly a matter of survival of a world now in the midst of the greatest crisis of civilization since, at least, the Second World War. President Donald Trump, confronted by a well-funded and coordinated insurrection against the government of the United States — on the streets of many cities, but also from the Congress, from the leadership of the Democrat Party, and from the media — has taken strong measures to crush that insurrection, while also identifying the perpetrators. But while engaged in this urgent task, he has allowed members of his Cabinet, led by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Defense Secretary Mark Esper, to turn U.S. foreign policy into a British-style imperial romp, threatening friend and foe alike with sanctions, threatening to break up the UN Security Council, and driving the world to the very brink of thermonuclear war with both Russia and China. Only if President Trump acts independently to use his considerable diplomatic skills to negotiate with Vladimr Putin and Xi Jinping directly can the madness be stopped, and the world put on a footing for a new paradigm free of British imperial geopolitics.
Trump travelled to Kenosha, Wisconsin on Tuesday, Sept. 1, the site of mass riots, arson and destruction, to celebrate the fact that the swift action taken by the National Guard, once the Democrat Governor had agreed to call them in, had worked in cooperation with the local police to stop the chaos and identify the perpetrators. Trump brought federal aid to help rebuild the city and support the police. He made clear that Portland, Oregon, and other cities under siege by “domestic terrorists” (as he correctly labeled them) must either request federal assistance, or he may need to act without such a request, as Presidents have done often in such emergency situations. Attorney General William Barr, who was with the President, reported that the majority of those arrested were trained anarchists from other states, naming California, Washington, Oregon and Michigan. He said that videos of the riots across the country are being carefully studied by the DOJ, and that the criminals identified “will be prosecuted.”
The Democrat Party, which has been cheerleading the insurrection from the beginning, has suddenly discovered that the American people are furious about the mass violence, and that it is likely to be the primary cause of Trump’s reelection — and have thus changed their tune, calling for an end to the riots. But the American people will not forget that Nancy Pelosi called Trump and his supporters “enemies of the state,” and is trying to prevent any presidential debates, as a means of subverting the election, knowing that debates would expose the population to the reality of a senile candidate backed by the military-industrial complex, who could never be allowed near the nuclear button.
But Pompeo is now beyond reckless. He has declared that the U.S. will enforce the “snapback” of UN sanctions on Iran, and will punish any nation which does not obey, knowing full well that not only Russia and China, but also Germany, France, Belgium and the U.K., among others, have refused to accept the illegal U.S. dictate. Pompeo today announced that he intends to shut down all the Confucius Institutes in the U.S. by the end of the year, and that he is encouraging President Trump to ban all Chinese students from studying in the U.S., since many of them, he says, are simply spies for the Chinese Communist Party. He said that in the coming weeks “we will see the United States confront this in a very serious way.” Direct military provocations are now taking place daily in the South China Sea, with any one of them capable of sparking a military conflict, by intention or by accident.
Meanwhile, the Berlin Charité Hospital, where Russian dissident Sergei Navalny was taken on Aug. 22, is reported to have shared the samples with Porton Down, the notorious British military chemical weapons lab, “because of possible similarities with the 2018 Skripal attack.” In that case, of course, the British claimed without evidence that former Russian spy Skripal and his daughter were poisoned by Russian agents with a Russian nerve agent Novichok — a major British ploy in the massive effort to subvert Trump’s efforts to build friendly relations with Russia. So what did Porton Down tell the Germans? Why, it was Novichok used against Navalny. The Guardian newspaper reports with glee that Angela Merkel has chimed in denouncing the Russians, and that this might be exactly what was needed to get Germany to cancel the Nord Stream 2 pipeline project.
In the Russia case, as with China, the U.S. military is conducting extremely dangerous provocations. Last week six B-52 bombers flew over the North Pole, simulating an attack on Russia, then flying in formation along the Russian coast with Norwegian fighter jets. Following that they staged simultaneous B-52 flights over every NATO country. Live-fire exercises are taking place within miles of the Russian border in the Baltic countries.
Are they mad? The President may be allowing this with a belief that it is necessary for his re-election. But the memory of the world “sleepwalking” into the Great War, the “war to end all wars,” due to a minor spark in the midst of an explosive situation, must be considered.
President Vladimir Putin today announced that he would be speaking at the UN General Assembly, on Sept. 22. This is the 75th Anniversary of the founding of the UN, as well as the ending of World War II. Despite the serious failings of the UN as an institution, due primarily to the early death of FDR and the manipulation by the British Empire, the UN Security Council was above all intended to prevent another world war, especially in the age of thermonuclear weapons. But to Pompeo, the members of the Security Council are now “standing with terrorists,” and what they think is “not material.”
