In an official visit to Great Britain the week of Oct. 8, a Ukrainian delegation led by President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a strategic partnership and trade agreements as well as a military cooperation agreement. The latter included a loan of £1.25 billion for the purchase of warships. Speaking at the Royal institute of International Affairs/Chatham House, Andriy Yermak, the Head of the Office of President Zelensky, also said Britain will sell lethal weapons — indeed, warships are lethal weapons. He said he discussed with British officials the idea of the EU or NATO setting up a center in the Ukraine to combat Russian disinformation and counter propaganda.
Also on this visit Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that Zelensky had pressed Prime Minister Johnson to set a timetable for a Ukrainian path to join NATO. “Our President was very clear. He said Ukraine needs a NATO membership action plan. NATO membership will contribute to Ukrainian security and defense,” Kuleba said.
