Europe’s Daily Coronavirus Cases Doubled over Last Ten Days

On Oct. 22 Europe reported more than 200,000 daily COVID-19 infections, the highest level ever, and more than double the daily rate of ten days ago. Many Southern European countries reported their highest single-day cases this week as well. For Europe as a whole, there are now more than 7.8 million cases with 247,000 deaths. France has now recorded over 1 million confirmed coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic, becoming the second country in Western Europe after Spain to reach that number.
