As a reaction to the new government semi-lockdown measures, people have taken to the streets of Rome, Milan, Turin, Naples and other cities on Monday – protesting not against restrictions as such, but against the lack of compensation for economic losses.

Especially restaurant, pub and bar owners and workers, but also taxi drivers and others are furious because despite government promises, financial aid was poor, came late or not at all during the first lockdown. Now that they have used savings or taken loans to survive and invested in distancing and protective measures, the shutdown after 6 p.m. for one month is threatening to become the coup de grâce for everybody.
