Evoking the spirit of the Republican nominating convention, the Erie, PA, rally on Oct. 20 opened with about 10 minutes of serious classical music performance.
A trained soprano opened by singing — as was done at the Republican convention — Schubert’s Ave Maria. She was then followed by a tenor, who, with bel canto precision, presented the version of the Lord’s Prayer loved and often performed by Rev. James Cokley at Schiller Institute events. There was also a recording of a team of young choristers used at portions of the Lord’s Prayer.
