U.S. Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe, interviewed on Fox Business TV’s Maria Bartiromo’s “Mornings with Maria” show today for 30 minutes, drove home the point that there would be no politics in intelligence on his watch. The first question to Ratcliffe was whether Hunter Biden’s laptop was part of a Russian disinformation effort. Ratcliffe’s answer was direct: “Let me be clear. The intelligence community doesn’t believe that, because there is no intelligence that supports that.” This was his strongest point in the interview. Ratcliffe insisted, “Hunter Biden’s laptop is not part of some Russian disinformation campaign. And I think it’s clear that the American people know that.”
Bartiromo asked the DNI why people, such as House Intelligence Committee Chair Adam Schiff (D-CA), would claim that emails came from Russia? Ratcliffe responded, “We have shared no intelligence with Chairman Schiff or any other Member of Congress that Hunter Biden’s laptop is part of some Russian disinformation campaign. It’s simply not true.” He continued to rebuke Schiff, and others who, he said, continuously use the intelligence community for partisan politics, concluding, “[A]nd this is exactly what I said would stop when I became the Director of National Intelligence, and that’s people using the intelligence community to leverage some political narrative.”
If the intelligence community is devoid of partisan politics, Ratcliffe concluded, we can trust the intelligence they share isn’t wrong, as it was with the four-year Russian collusion hoax.
