Ukraine To Construct Two Black Sea Naval Bases with British Aid

Ukraine began construction of two Black Sea naval military bases, announced Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in his annual address to the parliament. Zelensky also mentioned the defense agreements Ukraine has signed with Turkey, the U.K., and the U.S.

The announcement drew a sharp response from Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, who told journalists that building such bases will have negative consequences: “Of course, considering all existing circumstances, this may have rather negative consequences for stability in the Black Sea region. This danger potentially exists.”

Peskov stated, however, that the Zelensky’s statement needs to be analyzed, since Zelensky did not give details: “Without having more information, we are unable to say anything definite.”
