Reports continue to appear regarding evidence that Syrian mercenaries are in Nagorno-Karabakh fighting on behalf of Azerbaijan, after being shipped there by Turkey. Al Masdar News reported last night that the death toll among Syrian mercenaries fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh is now reported to be over 230. Syrians sources told Al Masdar on Oct. 31 that 14 Syrian fighters had been killed during the previous several hours, increasing the total number of dead to over 230. The Syrian Observatory said that 183 mercenaries’ dead bodies were brought to Syria, while the rest of the bodies are still in Azerbaijan.
Yesterday, the Armenian Defense Ministry posted a video of the interrogation of a person it said was a Syrian mercenary captured on the battlefield. The man stated that he had arrived in Karabakh to fight the “infidels,” reported Al Masdar, which posted the video. He was supposed to receive a salary of $2,000 month, in addition to a reward of $100 for beheading an “infidel.” This news service is not aware of any reports of beheadings in Nagorno-Karabakh.
