Russian Leader Warns Biden Victory Dangerous for U.S.-Russia Relations

TASS reports that the Chairman of the Russian State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee Leonid Slutsky told reporters today that “President-elect” Joe Biden wouldn’t make any positive contributions to U.S.- Russia relations.

“Unfortunately, one should not expect substantial changes for the better regarding Russia,” he said. “Biden together with President [Barack] Obama launched sanctions at various levels against Russia,” Deputy Slutsky stated, and further stating that the Democratic nominee directly called Russia “the main enemy” of the United States in his pre-election rhetoric. “‘That is why one should hardly expect any of the Russian politicians to applaud this time on account of the results of the American election.”

He went on to emphasize that Russia is ready to normalize bilateral relations, especially in the areas of global healthcare, arms control, cybersecurity, strategic stability and peaceful development of space.
