Russian and Chinese Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Wang Yi discussed, in a phone call yesterday, upcoming contacts on cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as other issues. “Special attention was placed on the schedule of upcoming contacts on the highest and high level, as well as specific issues of practical cooperation in the bilateral format and in the framework of implementing agreements of the leaders to integrate development plans of the Eurasian Economic Union and China’s Belt and Road Initiative,” the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
For his part the Chinese Foreign Minister said China hopes to join forces with Russia to fight global hegemony and the growing protectionism.
