Signs of Turmoil in Democratic Party: Manchin Says He Would Block Court Packing, Ending Filibuster

West Virginia’s Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin told Fox News last night that he would not vote for packing the courts or ending the filibuster, even if ordered by the party leadership to cast a tie-breaking vote to get either of those two measures passed, The Hill reported yesterday. Manchin posted clips from his interview on his Twitter account, and summed up his argument: “Let me be clear: I will not vote to pack the courts & I will not vote to end the filibuster. The U.S. Senate is the most deliberative body in the world. It was made so that we work together in a bipartisan way. If you get rid of the filibuster, there’s no reason to have a Senate.”

The maenads of the media and Democratic Party “Squad” of radicals (e.g. AOC, Ilhan Omar, MSNBC) have unleashed against Manchin for this promise, and spreading the “narrative” that their so-called “progressive” agenda is why the Democratic Party did so poorly in the elections.

Manchin told Fox that he’s “a proud moderate conservative Democrat. Maybe there’s not many of us left, but I can tell you what this country wants is moderation.” The Democrats’ pushing the “Green New Deal,” defunding police and “all this socialism” scared “the bejeezus out of people,” Manchin said. “We’ve been tagged if you’ve got a D by your name, you must be for all the crazy stuff and I’m not.”
