On Wednesday, Nov. 5, the United States recorded nearly 103,000 new coronavirus cases in a single day, the highest daily number by far. The nationwide 7-day average is now about 89,859, up by about 108% in just a month. Also, 17 states are reporting record hospitalization rates.
In Europe, the WHO announced on Tuesday that there had been a “further acceleration” in the spread in the region, including a 46% increase in deaths compared with the previous week. Poland hit a new daily high of cases, with nearly 25,000. And Russia also is setting records in new daily cases and deaths.
