FDA Committee Recommends Approving Pfizer and BioNTech Coronavirus Vaccine for Emergency Use

Today the Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) voted 17-4, with one abstention, to grant emergency use authorization to the coronavirus vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech. It will now be up to the FDA to grant final approval, which is expected, and could occur as early as tomorrow, Dec. 11.
