Helga Zepp-LaRouche opened Day One of the Schiller Institute International Conference,”The World after the U.S. Election: Creating a World Based on Reason”, on Saturday morning, as follows:
“As you know, two days before the decision of the Electoral College, which seems to be pretty much settled after the decision of the Supreme Court not to accept the complaint from the state of Texas—I’m not saying that that is the last word of—but it is time to reflect on how to address all of the problems which do exist, and these are many. We have an out-of-control COVID-19 pandemic — out of control, at least in parts of the world, in Europe, in the United States and in many developing countries; not so much in Asia. Then we have a famine, which according to the head of the World Food Program, David Beasley, has “biblical dimensions”: 270 million people are threatened with starvation in the coming year. Then we have the danger of a financial collapse, because nothing has been resolved after 2008. We are looking at the perspective of the real collapse of the real economy, at least in large parts of the world. And naturally, out of all of that stems a strategic confrontation between NATO, and Russia and China, which if not stopped and if not changed, has the potential for the annihilation of the human species.
“So I think that if you look at this spector of existential threatening problems, it is very important to conduct this conference of the Schiller Institute, which has the intention to hear experts from many parts of the world looking at aspects of this crisis, looking for ways how to define a new paradigm, and how we can catalyze an international movement of people who are committed to reach a new level of reason, a higher level of reason, where all these conflicts can be overcome in the interests of everyone. And such a solution does exist….”
