The Congress has passed another insane bill, declaring itself to be the policeman of the world. This time it is called the “Rodchenkov Act,” named after the head of the Russian anti-doping policies, who was caught running a massive doping scheme with Russian athletes, then fled to the U.S. and blamed it on the government. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) then played a filthy role in blaming the government and excluding Russia from participation in the Olympics and other international sports events.
Now, the U.S. Congress, in its great wisdom, has passed a law which ”allows the U.S. to impose criminal sanctions on people engaging in doping at international events, which involve American athletes, sponsors or broadcasters. The legislation empowers officials to seek fines of up to $1 million and jail terms of up to 10 years, as well as restitution to victims,” reported RT. President Donald Trump signed the bill Dec. 4, most likely knowing that the Congress, which is totally unified when it comes to passing sanctions bills which ignore international law, would override a veto.
Even the corrupt WADA screamed that the bill could undermine international sporting events. “No nation has ever before asserted criminal jurisdiction over doping offenses that occurred outside its national borders – and for good reason,” a WADA statement said. “By unilaterally exerting U.S. criminal jurisdiction over all global doping activity, the Act will likely undermine clean sport by jeopardizing critical partnerships and cooperation between nations.” The organization also said the proposed legislation could potentially harm future whistleblowers.
