Judging by statements of Dana Stroul, picked by Biden to be the Pentagon’s top official dealing solely with the Middle East, the Administration plans to do a dry run on Syria preparatory to imposing the so-called Green New Deal on the population of the United States. Stroul had said already on Nov. 1, 2019 at CSIS, that there were four kinds of “leverage” that the United States has against the Assad government in Syria. “So the first one was the one-third of Syrian territory that was owned [!] via the U.S. military with its local partner, the Syrian Democratic Forces. And that one-third of Syria is the resource-rich—it’s the economic powerhouse of Syria. So where the hydrocarbons are, which obviously is very much in the public debate here in Washington these days, as well as the agricultural powerhouse.”
Stroul obviously wanted to let the Beltway know that denying hydrocarbons to a country, including in agriculture, can really royally screw that country’s population, to the point where it might try to overthrow the government. And she also wanted us to understand that “this is very much in the public debate here in Washington these days,” as well—that is, denying hydrocarbons to Americans, in agriculture as well as industry, commerce and travel, and royally screwing them to the point of their lives.
So, Stroul would then be a natural pick for an administration that states it plans to do just that, with a “Green New Deal.”
