Egypt and Libya have had further discussions on extending Egypt’s planned high-speed railway to Benghazi, during a meeting of the Libyan-Egyptian Chamber of Commerce, in Alexandria, on Jan. 20. The chairman of the Chamber Ibrahim al-Garari, told Sky News Arabia that the project will begin in two years.
Egypt will extend its high-speed railway from Ain Sokhna on the Red Sea through the New Capital near Cairo to Alamein city on the Mediterranean, and thence to Benghazi, Libya, via through Saloum, Egypt on the border. Garari said Egypt and Libya will continue discussions next week on the project, and meetings are also being set for a planning session during the Libyan-Egyptian Economic Forum in February.
