Poland plans to build two nuclear power reactors near Gdansk by 2030. The German government is protesting, because an accident would send radioactivity as far as to Berlin, 450 km away, green experts claim. The German government says it accepts Polish sovereignty over its national energy policy—which is no more than lip service, since Germany seeks to establish an internationally backed regulation that would enable German citizens who feel threatened by the Gdansk project, to take Poland to international court and to legally interfere on other fronts against the project, Germany’s Environment Ministry has announced.
