Leading Japanese Refer to U.S. Inauguration as the Collapse of the Establishment

Daisuke Kotegawa, a former leading economist at Japan’s Ministry of Finance and Japan’s Executive Director at the IMF, responded most profoundly to the ugly spectacle of the inauguration ceremonies for Joe Biden. His comments to EIR follow:

There was great passion shown by the people honoring President Donald Trump upon his departure, but there was no passion at all at the inauguration of Joe Biden. There were a huge number of flags, some famous people, but no one was interested in what Biden said. There was no human response. It was, I believe, a final desperate effort of the establishment to keep power in their hands.

When Trump came into office, many Japanese were confused. They didn’t know what he was doing. But now people here back Trump and hate Joe Biden. The mainstream media here, Mainichi and Asahi, are the same as the New York Times and the Washington Post, but people here now sense that they are not telling the truth.
