Proud Boys Leader Outed as Informant

According to the transcript of a 2014 federal court proceeding, reviewed by Reuters, Enrique Tarrio, leader of the Proud Boys movement, served as an informer for local and federal law enforcement. The federal prosecutor at the time confirmed to Reuters, “he cooperated with local and federal law enforcement, to aid in the prosecution of those running other, separate criminal enterprises.” According to the transcript, Tarrio’s lawyer told the court in 2014 that Tarrio was a “prolific” cooperator, who “at his own risk, in an undercover role met and negotiated to pay $11,000 to members of that [crime] ring to bring in fictitious family members of his from another country.” The judge in the 2014 case said that Tarrio “provided substantial assistance in the investigation and prosecution of other persons involved in criminal conduct.” His sentence was reduced from 30 years to 16 months.

Is his work to inflame conflict with Antifa and create violent conditions as an excuse to label supporters of former President Donald Trump “domestic terrorists” just the latest act of Tarrio’s “prolific” cooperation?
