Canada Channels the Queen—Attacks China with ‘Declaration Against Arbitrary Detention’

The government of Canada, whose Sovereign is the Queen of England, is eager to do the Queen’s geopolitical dirty work, in this case attacking China. On Feb. 15, Foreign Minister Marc Garneau presided over a virtual ceremony officially announcing the launching of the “Declaration Against Arbitrary Detention in State to State Relations.” Among the audience were representatives of some of the 58 nations that have endorsed the declaration, including EU member nations, the U.K (Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab)., the U.S. (Secretary of State Antony Blinken), Canada’s Five Eyes allies and others. Among the “stars” present, Garneau boasted, was Amal Clooney, international human rights lawyer and wife of Hollywood actor George Clooney.

Although the Declaration doesn’t mention China specifically, during the gathering, the executive director of George Soros’s Human Rights Watch, Kenneth Roth, was conveniently allowed to deliver a diatribe against China for having arrested two Canadian citizens, Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor, describing this action as “particularly egregious” and a “despicable practice.” They were arrested in 2018 shortly after the Canadian police arbitrarily arrested Huawei CEO Meng Wanzhou at the request of the United States, and have detained her since then on spurious charges.
