Her Majesty is making billions on the Empire’s green genocide policy. She will make a cool £100 million this year in the sale of licenses to build offshore wind farms. The millions come through the Crown Estate which owns almost the entire offshore coastlines of the British Isles and is responsible for managing economic activity such as wind farms, fisheries, etc. While the Treasury receives 75% of these revenues, the Royal Household creams off a cool 25%! According to the Guardian, offshore seabed auction earned £4 billion over 10 years for Treasury and Crown Estate. There are now calls for a green sovereign wealth fund which means the money going to the Treasury would have to be invested in green projects and not infrastructure, housing or the general budget.
Bids this year alone, for the existing wind turbines of Walney Wind Farm and West of Duddon Sands Offshore Wind Farm. Plots in the Irish Sea attracted bids up to £200 million-a-year leases.
The leases generate at least £100 million a year for the Windsors and over £300 million a year for the Treasury.
Calling for a green wealth fund Green party co-leader, Jonathan Bartley is quoted by the Guardian saying: “Rather than being squirreled away in Treasury coffers, how much better would it be to use this renewable windfall as initial capital for a sovereign wealth fund that could then be invested for future generations, similar to what we’ve seen the likes of Alaska and Norway do in the past with their oil wealth.”
