Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov calls for renewed contacts between chiefs of staff of Arctic states.
“I have told the American colleagues several times that we used to have a wonderful line of communication between chiefs of general staffs of Arctic states. This could be recovered and continue functioning,” he said in an interview with the Zvezda TV channel on February 24. Antonov reminded viewers that the Arctic is one of the matters on which Russia and the US can hold a dialogue.
“Have a look at what is going on in the media right now. It was reported that the Americans were involved in dropping bombs on the territory of Sweden with the use of their planes in Norway,” the ambassador added. “And yet, we are saying that the Arctic and the zone of Arctic states is a zone of cooperation, peace, kindness and economic cooperation.”
