China’s President Xi Jinping held another phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron on Feb. 25th. The two exchanged Spring Festival greetings, and sent greetings to the people of each other’s country. Xi stated that the two Presidents had had five phone calls in 2020 and urged that they both actively push for continuous progress in such areas of practical cooperation as energy, aviation and agricultural and food products, and foster new driving forces for bilateral cooperation.
Xi also indicated that he would support France becoming a major international financial center (with the demise of London after Brexit). Recalling that at the end of last year, China and the EU jointly announced the completion of China-EU investment agreement negotiations, Xi called for concerted efforts to put the agreement into effect at an early date.
Xi also called for collaborating on getting COVID-19 vaccines to the nations of the developing world, saying that China had offered vaccines to over 50 nations.
