During the weekly White House COVID-19 briefing yesterday, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the new CDC head, made an emotional appeal to batten down the hatches, as she explained her sense of “impending doom,” as new Covid-19 cases turned dramatically higher over the past two weeks. In that time frame, new cases reached 63,000 per day on average, with a 16% increase. Nine states experienced an increase over 40%, with Michigan hitting a 133% rise. She explained that we’re following Europe’s new wave, but we are not helpless in doing so; and we can act now to pre-empt a fourth wave in the U.S..
