Dems Try To Expel Georgia Rep. Marjorie Greene from Congress, Claiming She Threatens Their Safety!

Rep. Jimmy Gomez (D-CA) introduced today a resolution into the House calling for the expulsion of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), alleging that her presence in the House represented a threat to the safety of House members. Gomez charges that Greene advocated violence against Democrats and was complicit in the events of the Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol. “Any member who incites political violence and threatens our lives must be expelled, and I’ll do everything I can in my power to protect our democracy and keep all my colleagues safe,” Gomez pontificated, CNBC reported today. In late January, he had warned that “her very presence in office represents a direct threat against the elected officials and staff who serve our government.”

Notably, while this was going on, Twitter suddenly suspended Greene’s account for 12 hours, without notice, for unnamed “violations,” although Twitter soon restored it, claiming the suspension had been a “mistake.”

Recall that Greene is a strong supporter of Donald Trump and publicly charged that he was a victim of vote fraud. Democrats succeeded in stripping her of all her Committee assignments in February, on grounds that she supported QAnon conspiracy theories (e.g., election fraud) and supported violence against Democrats. Greene had supported QAnon prior to her election to Congress but later repudiated that view publicly. Gomez’s resolution is backed by 72 other Democrats, but he is also calling on Republicans to strongly condemn her alleged crimes. In order to pass, the resolution would require a two-thirds vote, which isn’t likely to materialize.
