If the U.S. Bases Missiles in Asia, Russia Will Have To Respond, Zakharova Says

Maria Zakharova, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, responded today to U.S. threats to place missiles in Asia to counter a growing “China threat,” by saying that such a move would provoke a Russian response: “We want to point out again that the deployment of American land-based intermediate-range and shorter-range missiles, regardless of what they carry, in various parts of the world, including in the Asia-Pacific Region, would have an immensely destabilizing effect, in terms of international and regional security. This would provoke a new round of the arms race, the implications of which can hardly be predicted. At the same time, the additional threat that the deployment of these missiles poses to Russia will certainly provoke a reaction from us.” https://www.mid.ru/en/foreign_policy/news/-/asset_publisher/cKNonkJE02Bw/content/id/4623242

She did not say what that response would be.
