On March 7, groups called The Virginia Project and Parents Against Critical Theory, concerned that their children were being indoctrinated into seeing just about everything in terms of race, held a webinar “What is CRT and its impact on Loudoun County Schools.” Loudoun County, a few dozen miles west of Washington, D.C., is home to Leesburg and to many well-to-do government workers.
In response to the criticism of the County’s educational plans, school board member Beth Barts wrote to an “Anti-Racists Parents” Facebook group on March 12, concerned that the anti-CRT movement “is gaining support,” urging others to “call out statements and actions that undermine our stated plan to end systemic racism.”
One mother on the group then proposed that others get together to research parents opposed to (or insufficiently in favor of) CRT training, to infiltrate such groups, and to use “hackers who can either shut down their websites or redirect them to pro-CRT/anti-racist informational webpages.”
