The British Empire thinks it’s sending intimidating messages to Moscow. According to the U.K. Defence Journal, a Royal Air Force RC-135W electronic reconnaissance aircraft was tracked flying off the coast of the Kola Peninsula yesterday, including spending some hours flying orbits near Murmansk. The Murmansk region is home to the largest concentration of military bases in Russia. The fact that the RAF plane was trackable on websites like flightradar24.com shows that it had its digital transponder turned on. “That the Royal Air Force chose to make the aircraft visible on commercial tracking services like that ... sends a very clear message,” says the Journal.
