Former astronaut Pamela Melroy has been nominated as NASA’s Deputy Administrator, its second highest position. She served on Biden’s transition team, during which time she said the U.S. should be working with China in space. Since leaving NASA, Melroy has held various leadership roles, in industry and government, in DARPA and the FAA. She was one of only two women to command a Shuttle mission.
