Journalist Patrick Lawrence, one of the few actual journalists left in the United States, published an article with the above title on Consortium News yesterday. It is a biting indictment of what is emerging as the Biden administration’s Syria policy. The policy, he writes, “is bleak, it is vicious, it is unconscionably cruel to the Syrian people. He suggests: that 1) “the Biden administration appears to be preparing Americans for a round of Washington’s morally bankrupt, grossly illegal campaign to bring down the government of a sovereign nation because it does not conform to America’s imperial diktat.… The coup operation is again on"; and 2) that Abu Mohammad al–Jolani, the head of the “cutthroat” Hayat Tahir al–Shalam (HTS), formerly known as the Jabhat al-Nusra, is being groomed for anointment as the Syrian “version of Juan Guaidó and Alexey Navlany, the two Dummköpfe Washington has ridiculously elevated to some status of saintly democrats in Venezuela and the Russian Federation respectively.” Lawrence goes on that this project, while clearly underway, may “prove so preposterous as to fail before it gets airborne. “
