Gen. Austin Miller, the U.S. commander in Afghanistan, announced yesterday that the final withdrawal of U.S. and NATO troops from Afghanistan has begun. “I now have a set of orders,” he told reporters at a press conference at the U.S. military headquarters in Kabul, reported the New York Times. “We will conduct an orderly withdrawal from Afghanistan, and that means transitioning bases and equipment to the Afghan security forces.”
