German Green half-head Robert Habeck has defended his call for delivering defensive weapons to Ukraine. “Ukraine fights not only for itself, but it defends the security of Europe as well,” Habeck said to Deutschlandfunk radio on today, after a visit to the frontline in Eastern Ukraine. Habeck’s statements have been criticized by many, including former Green party head and government member Jürgen Trittin, who said that weapons deliveries violate the Minsk agreements and that in any case it is not possible to distinguish what weapons are defensive and what offensive.
