Today India reported 165,553 new coronavirus cases, a decrease from recent days. However, only a hair over 3% of the population has been fully vaccinated.
The U.S. leads the world in number of cases, at 34,035,654, followed by India (27,923,301), Brazil (16,471,600), France (5,657,572) and Turkey (5,235,978). Mortality rates of deaths per 1 million are highest in Central and Eastern Europe: first is Hungary (3,084), followed by Bosnia-Herzegovina (2,824), Czechia (2,806), Bulgaria (2,559) and Slovakia (2,559). Some island countries in the world (Solomon Islands, Samoa, Micronesia, etc.) have zero deaths — everyone who had COVID-19 recovered.
The situation in the Far East is also grave.
