Investigation of Israel's Bombing of Densely Populated Areas as a War Crime

The UN Human Rights Council voted 24 to 9 for an open-ended investigation of Israeli abuses. The Council’s High Commissioner Michelle Bachelet, former President of Chile, said that the bombing of densely populated areas “may constitute war crimes.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the Council’s action “shameful... blatant anti-israel obsession... [of] an immoral automatic majority at the Council” and a “mockery of international law.” However, he did not threaten to bomb them.
